Pinocchio (live) #3

No, you’re not dreaming – these really are children being transformed, one after another, into puppets. In the factory imagined by Alice Laloy, Collodi’s famous tale takes a very different turn. Gone is the Blue Fairy who brings a wooden puppet to life; here, it is the living who are turned into inanimate, standardized objects.

This performance is a part of Marionetteaterns international festival Pop Up Puppets at Kulturhuset Stadsteater in Stockholm the 20-23 of August 2026.

About the performance

Alice Laloy envisions a dystopian society in which children undergo a rite of passage through an assembly line. Step by step, adults shape them into perfect puppets. Yet it is through their own will that the children rediscover movement, freeing themselves from the strings that animate them, until they achieve complete emancipation.

A stage performance designed for 22 performers, children and  adults, and two teenage percussionists. The performance is the result of a photographic research project conducted by Alice Laloy between 2014 and 2018 entitled Pinocchio(s).

From age 15. Non verbal performance.
